DEMAND for performance management consulting is flat, and showing few signs of improvement, a new Sourceforconsulting.com report has found.

Of the 17 consulting firms surveyed for Source’s monthly service briefing, few saw any significant growth in the market in the past year. And while many firms do expect some growth – reflecting the generally bullish mood amongst consulting firms at the moment – the degree to which they expect the market to pick up lies in stark contrast to expectation for other consulting services, like operational excellence.

Director of Sourceforconsulting.com Fiona Cznerniawska said:

“Given the troubled economic times in the market as a whole recently, perhaps we shouldn’t be too surprised.

“HR Consulting is having somewhat of an identity crisis – it’s hard to say something new or different about people management,” she added.

The report also found that increasing productivity and adapting to tough market conditions were the main reasons clients turned to performance management consulting.

Consulting firms felt the biggest problem consulting to a successful project was a lack of clear sponsorship from the top of the client organisation.
